What's the buzz? Knightsbridge salon Neville has a new offering for the festive season: Shu Uemura 12 Drop Serum Ceremony. Fitting, as Christmas is all about sparkle, and this treatment – available throughout December – is supposed to make your hair as sparkly as a festive fairy. It’s a simple premise – a treatment serum by luxury make Shu Uemura is applied to the hair after it’s been washed. It stays on for just five minutes before being rinsed off and then you have the blow dry of your choice.
Being of fine hair, I was concerned that the drops would make my hair too greasy. However, the serums come in a number of formulations for different hair types, so Neville co-director Steven Low diagnosed the repair formulation for me. “It’s all about how you want the hair to feel afterwards,” he says. “The serum goes towards where the hair needs it most. Don’t worry about the treatment making your hair too soft – you want to have soft hair – nobody goes to the hairdresser wanting hair like straw.” Certainly not, I got silky and super-shiny hair that responded well to a classic straight blow-dry in Steven’s capable hands. Not greasy, and not straw either. Phew.
Steven recommends having the treatment once a fortnight to start off with, reducing to once a month once the condition of the hair improves.
