Last show you saw?

Blood Brothers at the Phoenix Theatre. Doing Strictly made me realise I love performing.

Most romantic thing someone has done for you?

Pete [her husband, footballer Peter Crouch] once sent a car to take me to The Dorchester when I was heavily pregnant and a bit grumpy. When I got there I found an Alaïa dress and a handbag and shoes in the room. We went to China Tang for a meal and spent the afternoon in the spa.

Who do you call to have fun?

The Strictly girls. I recently went to dinner with Deborah, Natalie, Rachel and Susanna at Little House. We ate steak tartare and drank margaritas.

What’s your earliest London memory?

Coming down on the train aged 19 to appear on Britain’s Next Top Model. I was absolutely terrified because I’d never ventured outside Liverpool and I’m quite a scaredy-cat; I’ve only been on the Tube once. Pete came to meet me and we sat in a beer garden, so I was hungover for the first day of filming.

What would you do as Mayor?

Introduce bigger penalties for littering. I hate litter.

First thing you do when you get to London?

I take my three-year-old daughter Sophia up to Primrose Hill for an ice cream.

Albums you’re downloading?

The latest Beyoncé, Paloma Faith, Coldplay and The Black Keys. We’re a very musical family — I love indie rock, and Sophia knows most Arctic Monkeys songs by heart.

Building you’d like to live in?

I’m constantly looking on Prime Location; I love high Victorian ceilings and big sash windows. We’re always driving around, choosing the houses we’d like to live in.

Where do you go to let your hair down?

Soho House with Julien Macdonald — he’s great fun.

Best place for a first date?

Pete’s really good at choosing but my favourite is Scalini, which can be very romantic in the evening and does a good Dover sole. Zuma and Buddha Bar in Knightsbridge are also good.

Biggest extravagance?

A black leather Yves Saint Laurent mac. I like to spend money on classics such as blazers or handbags. For trends, I use the high street.

Favourite discovery?

London Zoo. Sophia loves the giraffes and pygmy hippos.

Best thing a cabbie has said to you?

One once pointed out a random house and told me it was where Peter Crouch lived. I don’t think he’d recognised me!

I’ve just launched my collection for Matalan, which I’ve loved doing because it’s a Liverpudlian business.
