3 new sustainable fashion brands to support now

In a year that’s providing very limited events to outfit plan for, we are all inevitably buying fewer clothes; which makes where we put our pounds when we do decide to shop even more important. 

While the convenience and price point make it tempting to order our PJs from Amazon and our Zoom-brightening tops from Zara, there are myriad amazing sustainable start-up brands offering sartorially on-point, planet-friendly purchases. And they need our support now more than ever. 

The following three London-based womenswear labels all offer beautifully crafted, well considered collections – and they’ve all launched since the last lockdown was lifted.

What: The brainchild of Saudi designer Yasmina Qanzal, this Jeddah and London-based label intends to produce 'thoughtfully created womenswear' using an all-female team. The result is a tight edit of feminine evening dresses with interesting details, from cut-outs to cascading sleeves, all made from eco viscose and recycled deadstock materials.

Omnes

What: This fun and youthful new label majors in floral midi dresses, ditsy print jumpsuits and puff sleeve blouses. Everything is designed in the Omnes studio in West London before being produced in fully audited factories in Romania and India using eco viscose and fabrics created from post-consumer waste –even the labels are made from recycled plastic bottles.

What: Setting out to challenge the idea that sustainable fashion need be expensive, retail veteran Dalbir Bains founded affordable brand Aligne with a 60-piece collection of throw-on dresses, minimal tailoring and puffer jackets. 75 per cent of the collection is 100 per cent sustainable, and yet the prices are similar to those you’ll find in the high street’s fast fashion giants.
