FKA Twigs has opened up about her experiences as a hostess as well as announcing that she's launching an initiative to raise money to support strippers and sex workers during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The musician explained on Instagram on Tuesday afternoon that she was 19 when she first began pole dancing, a feat she later became famous for as she would show off impressive moves during her musical performances, both live and in music videos.

Twigs, now 32, wrote that she learned "a back hook spin from a stripper" while working "as a hostess in a gentleman’s club," explaining that "hostessing is when one person pays another person for their time, anything from a conversation over dinner to sex work, and the club gets a cut of the fee."

She goes on to say, "my lived experience as a very young woman in these environments has not only informed the strong and formidable woman that i am today, but also a lot of my work as a music and visual artist - sometimes even subconsciously."

She already started a GoFundMe and donated $10,000, with hopes to eventually raise $30,000. These organizations will also be taking over her social media channels throughout the week.

Twigs often shares pole dancing photos and videos on her Instagram account, where she has 1.8 million followers.

She also famously pole danced in her 2019 music video for 'Cellophane.'
