You don't belong here

It is the sort of village people dream of retiring to, nestling on the edge of a forest and boasting an active conservation society and am-dram group. It is not the sort of village that Page 3 girls with breast implants, an illegitimate child, and a reputation for partying move to.

So when word got out that pneumatic pin-up Jordan was moving to sleepy Maresfield in East Sussex's stockbroker belt, locals were appalled.

"It is dreadful she is coming here," said one parish councillor this week.

"This is a quiet village where people respect each other. I think it's highly unlikely she will fit in."

Margaret Dixon who, like many of the 1,150 residents of Maresfield, has lived there for more than 20 years, said: "Thankfully I am moving out just as she arrives. It is a coincidence, but good timing I think."

A community website, too, is buzzing with the news. "Guess who's just moved into a house in Maresfield?"-asks one message. "Jordan. The neighbours are not very happy about it. Maresfield is turning into a dodgy place to live."

Jordan, 25, real name Katie Price, became a topless model four years and three breast enhancements ago, since when she has developed a reputation for dating footballers and stumbling out of nightclubs wearing very little.

The 32FF glamour model is leaving her £360,000 house in Poynings, just outside Brighton where she grew up, having told friends she wants a quieter, more rural life. "I am fed up with people driving past and yelling at me," she said. "I don't feel safe."

Her old home was surrounded by floodlights, security cameras, a 6ft-high fence and hi-tech burglar alarms, and she is keen to ensure her new home is similarly well-protected.

The ivy-clad 1930s house has five bedrooms and comes with 13 acres of landscaped gardens and paddocks. Jordan is believed to have paid around £650,000 for it.

Locals say Jordan is moving in with her 17-month-old disabled son Harvey, from an affair with footballer Dwight Yorke, and her mother.

If she is really seeking peace and quiet, Jordan will find it in Maresfield. It lies close to the ancient Ashdown Forest and has just a handful of shops and a sub-post office.

Popular pastimes among the villagers include drinking at the 18th Century Chequers pub ( needless to say, Jordan has already been there) and playing the old Sussex game of stoolball, which is similar to cricket.
