Will you shell out for a feathered Fabergé?

World-famous designers have spent hundreds of hours making eggs for the largest ever Easter egg hunt.

The two-and-a-half foot glass fibre eggs, designed by the likes of Vivienne Westwood and Giles Deacon, will be scattered across London to raise funds for Elephant Family and Action for Children.

Londoners have 40 days from February 21 to find the 200 giant eggs in the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt - 30 of which will be unveiled tonight. The works of art can be sponsored or bought at auction after the hunt.

Fashion designer Suzie Turner adorned her two eggs with the same feathers she uses to embellish her couture gowns. It took her more than 500 hours to decorate the eggs as thousands of feathers had to be hand-dyed and sewn on individually.

Ms Turner, from Marylebone, said: "I am honoured to be a part of the egg hunt and I'm so happy that two of my designs were selected. It was quite labour-intensive but I'm hoping they will sell and look elegant inside someone's home."

George Butler, 26, an illustrator from Hackney, used a recent trip to India as his inspiration for his peacock design egg. He said: "It's a good excuse for artists to do a design free from restrictions. There's not a single egg that's the same."
