As Jay Kay, Ant and Dec and Edward Norton celebrate winning awards at GQ Magazine's Man of The Year Awards,

1. David Beckham, footballer

The life of Mr Posh Spice took a turbulent turn earlier this year when he was sold by Man Utd to Real Madrid. Despite his departure to foreign shores, his fashion sense and hair-dos remain as media-savvy as ever. What's more, it would take a miracle to separate David, the loving husband and doting dad, from the side of wife Victoria and sons Brooklyn and Romeo.

2. Ragi Omar, BBC journalist

The BBC reporter bravely dodged bombs and bullets reporting from Iraq. The correspondent from Somalia has breathed new life into news and is currently seen as the latter-day Kate Adie.

3. Simon Cowell, record executive

The pop mogul took his "charm" and fashion-sense over The Pond and to the surprise of many, has been a huge hit in America. He's now back over here upsetting more pop wannabes as they fight it out in this year's Pop Idol. He may wear his trousers up to his earlobes, but he is streets ahead of Fame Academy's Richard Park.

4. Justin Timberlake, singer

Just about everyone wants a slice of Justin Timberlake's ass. Not only can this whippersnapper sing - he can dance too. To name a few of his accomplishments Britney's ex has hit the top spot with his latest album Justified, has bagged an Angel and was the envy of the nation's blokes when he got to rub his hands all over Kylie's bum at the Brit Awards.

5. Colin Farrell, actor

The 27-year-old Dublin-born actor has already made it onto Hollywood's A-list after appearing in Minority Report and Phone Booth. He was named one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in 2003 and was voted sixth in 'The World's Sexiest Man of 2003' by Company magazine.

6. Chris Martin, singer

Coldplay's frontman has had a phenomenal year. Career-wise the band has never been bigger. The latest album A Rush Of Blood To The Head has been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and the band recently won more accolades at the MTV Awards. His personal life is not going too badly either. Despite rumours suggesting the opposite, his relationship with actress Gwyneth Paltrow is still going strong.

7. Prince Harry, third in line to throne

The 'Jack the Lad' of the House of Windsor had a topsy-turvy year in 2002 when he was caught smoking dope and drinking alcohol. Prince Charles was none too pleased and marched him off to a rehab centre for the day. This year he seems to have mellowed. His Royal Highness has just finished his A-levels, turned 18 and, despite being third in line to the throne, insisted on trying to help a lady whose car had broken-down earlier this year.

8. Johnny Vegas, comedian/potter

There's no mistaking that comedian Johnny Vegas is all man. The portly Guinness fan, who recently got married, shunned celebrity magazines OK and Hello! and sold his wedding pics to Viz for £1. Despite his status as a top performer he is just as happy to side-step TV and theatre for a spin on his pottery wheel. On top of all of this he has maintained an amicable relationship with his previous partner, a Monkey.

9. Tony Blair, Prime Minister

The man from Number 10 has had a tough year. He led the country to war with Iraq and has since split the nation. His union with George Bush has led to him being called Vice President Blair. But, despite all this, he continues to impress as he juggles his responsibilities with being a husband and father to four children.

10. Tim Henman, tennis player

As every Wimbledon comes and goes the pressure on Tim 'The Tiger' Henman gets greater and greater. As the 28-year-old gets older it seems the likelihood of him winning the Wimbledon trophy gets less. He does, however, make Wimbledon a national obsession and has the honour of having a hill (Henman Hill) named after him. Until we get 'new balls' we're going have to give Tiger the roar of approval.
