CULTURE SECRETARY
The reshuffle following Hain's departure means Burnham moves from the Treasury to bear the cross of explaining why arts funding is being cut to pay for the Olympics. A fast riser in the new generation, this cheerful Liverpudlian is the only Cabinet minister to have confessed to running on to the pitch at an FA Cup semi-final in his youth. Impeccable loyalty since (to both Blair and Brown) has been rewarded. But the mood in the arts is bleak and he'll need more than good cheer to reassure.

DOWNING STREET CHIEF OF STAFF
He is departing No 10 and that forces him off the list. His return to the Treasury is a step backwards even though he is still on Gordon Brown's friends and family list.

PERMANENT SECRETARY AT NO. 10
This is a new role and makes Heywood the man to be reckoned with in matters prime ministerial. The man once dubbed Tony Blair's "favourite civil servant" now holds some of the greatest clout in Whitehall.

ACTRESS
The girl from Gravesend is fresh out of RADA and has landed the role of Bond girl Agent Fields in the next film, Quantum Of Solace.

FASHION: HAROLD TILLMAN
BRITISH FASHION COUNCIL, CHAIRMAN
The dapper Jaeger chairman will replace Sir Stuart Rose at the BFC after London Fashion Week next month. It is the organisation behind fashion week and helps establish funding for young designers. Tillman, an alumnus of The London College of Fashion, is credited with turning Jaeger from fusty and glum to feisty and glamorous.

HEALTH: PROFESSOR LISA JARDINE, 63
HUMAN FERTILISATION AND EMBRYOLOGY AUTHORITY, CHAIRWOMAN
At a time when new legislation is passing through Parliament in relation to IVF and embryo research, Professor Jardine's role at the watchdog will be crucial. An honorary Fellow of King's College Cambridge, she advises The Royal Society and is a trustee of the V&A. She starts at the HFEA in April.
