Westminster's high cost of shut library

The council has spent more than £250,000 over three years paying rates on a closed library.

Labour, which obtained the figures, says the ruling Tories have also let Grade II-listed Marylebone Library fall into disrepair.

The council claimed it had saved more on gas, electricity and maintenance than it had lost on rates.
