Wedding invitation up for sale on eBay

A wedding guest has put his invitation up for auction on eBay because he says he cannot stand the bride-to-be.

Since then, four other guests have offered their invitations to the same reception on the internet auction site.

The seller, a Scotsman known only as Twinklydog, is now offering five invitations which he says will be worth ?400 of "free booze and free food".

His advert says: " They've stupidly invited me to their wedding, but I don't want to go.

"It's an invite to me 'plus one' and involves the afternoon reception (a sit down meal in a 4-star restaurant) and evening p*** up (a bus will carry you there, and drag you to the nearest b&b or train station after). Should be a good day out."

But he warns potential buyers that they will have to listen to the bride's father singing karaoke and "watch her mum try to get off with the ushers".

Twinklydog refers to the wedding as a "marital travesty". He admits that "getting five of you into a wedding might be a bit of a gamble" so he says he will "keep the price down". As word spread via the internet, bids rocketed from ?36 into the hundreds. Buyers have until Friday to place offers.

Other unconventional entries on the website in recent months include bottles of water straight from the Thames at ?2 each; an unnamed man who sold his soul for the bargain price of ?11.61 after promising documentation to the buyer; and, perhaps most controversially, a 19-year-old lesbian who auctioned her virginity for ?8,000 to pay off her university debts.

Meanwhile, a Tesco carrier bag went for ?4.50 - after attracting 15 bids.
