Wanted: three sacked bankers who can rock

THE search is on to find three unemployed bankers willing to perform a Christmas single called Don't Cry For Corporate America in venues across the Square Mile.

The track has already been recorded by sound engineer Finlay Morton, 35, to register his anger at the "irresponsible excess" behind the economic downturn. It comes out on 7 December as a download and in the shops.

Mr Morton, from Streatham, is holding auditions for a guitarist, bassist and drummer to help him promote the "punky, garage band" track live next month.

Hopefuls will be turned away from the first heat tomorrow at The Bedford, in Balham, unless they have their redundancy letters from City firms. Mr Morton, who organises music for Labour Party conferences, said: "I'm incensed about what's happened and how ordinary people and those at the bottom of the banks have suffered."

The band will receive the proceeds from sales and gigs to help them pay for Christmas while out of work. Mr Morton, who is funding the record with £ 5,000 of his own, expects each of the trio to make at least £2,000.
