Video suicide for Britney

The UK's current queen of pop Britney Spears is set to shock fans yet again with a new video in which she commits suicide in the bath.

In the promo for 'Everytime', directed by controversial photographer David LaChappelle, Britney escapes a mob of baying paparazzi, only to have a booze-fuelled argument with a boyfriend.

She is then depicted slipping under the water in a bath with an open bottle of pills beside her. As the boyfriend attempts to revive her, a second, 'new' Britney walks out of the hotel.

The former squeaky-clean pop princess, who is at No.1 in the charts with her single Toxic, has had a controversial past year - which saw her briefly marry a childhood friend in Las Vegas, break down in tears in a live TV interview and allegedly engage in drunken nightclub visits.

The video is seen by many as an ironic sideswipe by Britney to what others perceive as her 'unstable' state.
