Homes and Property | Home PageVeterans remember ArnhemNigel Rosser|Evening Standard13 April 2012A group of World War II veterans will today stage a march-past over a Dutch bridge where hundreds of Allied soldiers died nearly 60 years ago.John Frost Bridge in Arnhem became known as the "bridge too far" following Field Marshal Montgomery's ill-fated Operation Market Garden in which thousands of soldiers were killed.Hundreds of veterans and their families-will visit the site this week to mark the anniversary of the 1944 Battle of Arnhem.A series of commemorative events, have been organised by the Dutch and start this morning with a service at Arnhem's Eusebius church.
