Two girls raped at knifepoint

Two teenage girls were raped after being abducted in the street at knifepoint.

The friends, aged 16 and 18, were attacked in the early hours after visiting the Jet petrol station shop in Peckham. They were walking along Commercial Way when they were approached by a man with a knife.

He demanded money and one girl handed over her purse before the pair fled into the Old Kent Road, chased by the knifeman. Just as they neared the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries centre off Peckham Park Road, the suspect caught up with them.

He forced them to climb a gate into a yard behind the centre where the attack took place.

The suspect is described as around 20, of Turkish appearance, chubby build and about 5ft 11in. He wore a black duffel coat with a T-shirt and dark blue jeans. He wrapped a beige or cream scarf around his face and the girls said he smelled of Lacoste aftershave.

They described the knife as about 12ins long, silver with curved edges. The attack took place between 1.45am and 2.15am last Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to call 020 7232 6182 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
