Traffic ban is the solution to pollution

London's most polluted roads are revealed today.

Sections of the M25 are the worst in the capital, with Marylebone High Street also scoring highly, according to research from the Mayor's office.

Experts warned that pedestrians near the worst affected roads were at risk of asthma and other respiratory diseases.

They also called for a major overhaul of the road system, with more pedestrian zones and fewer pavements on busy roads.

Ken Livingstone also reiterated his plan to enforce a low emission zone in the capital, banning polluting buses and lorries.

Experts agreed, saying the only way to reduce pollution was to ban traffic in central London.
