Tory: We're now nation of cowards

Britain is turning into a nation of cowards, it was claimed today.

Shadow Chancellor Oliver Letwin will today warn that the country has developed an unhealthy obsession with minimising risk.

In a speech in London, he will say that traditional cultural events such as the annual bull-chase through Pamplona in Spain would never be held in Britain because of the nanny state, which "would never allow human beings to submit themselves voluntarily to such risks".

Mr Letwin's speech is the latest in the Tory attack on "compensation culture".
