‘They could have taken his money but were hell-bent on killing’

The family of Nadim Gulamhuseinwala told today how his murder has left them in a "black hole" of grief.

Mr Gulamhuseinwala attended Westminster School on an academic scholarship before studying medicine at Bristol University, where he graduated among the top of his year. He trained as a plastic surgeon but changed careers and went to City firm McKinsey & Company as a management consultant in 2007.

Despite having no commercial or business experience, he was soon offered a senior position at the company.

He had been posted to the US and had flown in from New York just hours before he was killed.

Speaking at the family's home in Ealing, his mother Veronika, 62, originally from Austria, said: "I still have not accepted that Nadim is never coming home. It's the first thing you remember in the morning and the last thing you think about at night."

His father Vajiuddin, 73, a chartered accountant originally from India, said: "Every morning I wake up and look at the photos of Nadim and tell him how proud I am of him. Nadim fulfilled all of our dreams for him He had so much ahead of him."

Speaking of the night he was killed, Mrs Gulamhuseinwala said: "The people that did this killed Nadim and carried on with their night out It is horrific. He could have given them the money but they were hell-bent on killing.

"This happened a few hundred metres from Buckingham Palace. It was all on CCTV. It was a place where people should be safe."

His brother Imran, 35, a fund manager, said: "I miss him terribly. He was absolutely my best friend."
