Gerard Batten, UK Independence Party

The MEP has pledged to replace the London Assembly with elected councillors from the boroughs. Londoners would be able to vote in referenda on key issues. The congestion charge would be abolished and traffic and parking restrictions minimised to focus more on roads safety. He would get more police onto the streets and reform the Met so directly elected boards could set their own priorities. UKIP would also restrict high-rise building to a few commercial development areas, incentivise recycling, and cap the cost of the Olympics to 38p per week for each household with any shortfall met by central Government.

"I would spend no money unless it was the benefit of all Londoners, so there would be none of this special interest group or minority groups."

Lindsey German, Respect

The well-known socialist campaigner is standing again (she came fifth last time) to make London a fairer city for working people. She has promised an emergency council house building programme, decent and cheap public transport to encourage less car use and to enforce a London living wage of £7.20 per hour. On public services, will lobby the government to stop hospital closures and provide good schools for every child in every borough. Has called for a tax on City fat cats to close the gap between rich and poor and would crack down on big business putting profits before the planet.

"London needs voices... who will argue for a London for the people who live and work in it, not the City bankers."

Damian Hockney, One London

The Assembly member, who was elected for UKIP and then swapped parties, would promote pro-business and anti-regulation policies, the introduction of a 24-hour transport system and school vouchers for parents. Has promised real cuts in council tax over the four-year term, making life easier for motorists and cancelling the £55 million "free" bus travel for under-18s. He would scrap the Western extension of the congestion charge zone and plan a managed end to the central zone through enhanced traffic management.

"Londoners' lives must be made easier, not more difficult, by the mayor."

Matt O'Connor, English Democrats

Founder of controversial campaign group Fathers 4 Justice promises to put the interests of England first by campaigning for a change to the Barnett formula which ensures that public spending is higher per capita in Scotland and Wales. Stepped in after newspaper columnist Garry Bushell pulled out. As well as tax flows, will campaign on the breakdown of families and communities, on tackling crime and disorder, and justice for England.

"I have become increasingly alarmed by the state of our political discourse and a democracy that is failing Londoners on such a spectacular scale."

Richard Barnbrook, BNP

The Dagenham councillor for the far-right party who has pledged to campaign for an end to all further immigration. The BNP has been accused of neo-Nazi links. Barnbrook promises to scrap the congestion charge, improve traffic flow and remove speed cameras, as well as provide more affordable public transport. He would lobby to reduce the council tax and the cost of the Olympics and would campaign for more council houses. Has pledged to tackle crime and fight against political correctness in the police.

Alan Craig, Christian Alliance

The Newham councillor has spent 25 years working on social justice projects in Canning Town, one of the most deprived areas of the capital. His key campaign commitments are to back families and marriage, end the culture of youth violence, build more affordable homes and tackle inequality by providing more jobs. His most controversial proposal is to block planning permission for the planned mega-mosque in West Ham.

"The aim for my campaign will be to unite Londoners around a more optimistic and positive approach, rooted in the Christian ethic of love for our neighbour."

Chris Prior, Stop Congestion Charge party

Former stockbroker who has pledged to scrap the congestion charge on his first day in office. Would get police out of their stations and onto the street, as well as bringing back police boxes every few streets, and staffed 24 hours-a-day. Has promised to cut bus and Tube fares to a £1 flat rate for two hours unlimited travel, reintroduce the Routemaster and bring in school buses. He would abolish small business rates, cut council tax in the short term and give Londoners the chance to opt out of the Olympic levy. Plans to renew the council house stock by divering money earmarked for the Olympics.

"The congestion charge is an example of failing government, it is a bad tax and it simply doesn't work."

Winston Mackenzie, Independent

Has pledged to use the discipline of his former boxing career to fight his opponents. He believes that standing as a black man and campaigning about crime will help change people's way of thinking about the growing gang and knife culture in London. Would give police cultural training and get more officers on the streets. Would ban the Western extension of the C-charge and put the central zone on a timetable.

"I'll float like a butterfly, and sting like a bee. I've got the policies, they can't see."
