The multi-storey Ivy in Miami with menu based on London restaurant

The Ivy has a rival of the same name and with a similar menu — but this one is unlikely to have seen Kate Moss picking at a salad or to have paparazzi outside.

The Ivy in Miami, serves a similar menu to its London namesake, of shepherd's pie, fish and chips with minted pea purée and salmon fishcakes with sorrel sauce. But there is apparently nothing the original Ivy can do about it.

The Ivy at the Grove, in a three-storey building in Miami, is the brainchild of Tim Power whose firm owned The Ivy a decade ago.

Power, 44, who is said to have invested more than £3 million into the Miami restaurant, said: "The menu is probably 50 per cent from The Ivy in London. They can't do anything about it. The name's not trademarked."

A year ago, Power was given an 18-month sentence for insider trading relating to the sale of Belgo group, which owned The Ivy, in the 1990s.

A spokesman for Caprice Holdings, which now owns The Ivy said: "We do not endorse any imitations of our restaurants."
