He has two children, Natasha and Oliver, now ten and eight, by his first wife, Tania, and a two-year-old daughter, Freya, with Young. 'Kirsty is far brighter than me,' he says, 'and Freya can already do her alphabet. Natasha and Oliver are more like me and I feel sorry that they're slightly struggling at school, but they've got great little personalities and good common sense so they'll be fine. I also think, and I have no proof of this, that if people are brilliant at school they can struggle later. They can develop a false sense of protection, whereas if you have to fight a bit you're readier for the big, wide world.'
