Aimed at the business user, this portable (2.5kg) projector may interest you if you're looking for a cheap home-cinema solution. Simple controls for horizontal and vertical alignment, auto source selection, sophisticated colour management and a plethora of connections allow you to link up everything from your PlayStation to your PC or video camera and project on to anything convenient.

NEC VT45 Portable Projector

Image contrast left something to be desired but the clarity is striking and the machine is very quiet in operation. An eco mode lets you reduce the light power, practically doubling lamp life without any major difference to the image, a major feature with lamps costing £300. Available at £1,500, the VT45 is about £500 cheaper than its nearest competitors.
