Tears of abandoned baby

The baby boy, abandoned outside a butcher's shop, sat there for more than two hours and was only noticed when he started crying.

Police are desperately trying to trace the parents or carers of the Asian toddler found in his pushchair outside the Halal Meats butcher's shop in Queens Market, Green Street in Walthamstow on Wednesday.

It is believed the blue pushchair was left outside the shop at about 3pm but he was only spotted at 5.30pm after he started crying.

Detectives have now released pictures of the boy and his distinctive clothing in a bid to find his parents or carer. The boy, who is aged between 12 and 19 months old, has short dark hair and suffers from eczema all over his body.

A Metropolitan police spokeswoman said: "We haven't found his carer or his mum or dad so we are still appealing. We are not being flooded with information and we do need help.

"We are hoping someone knows about it and we really do want people to ring in. We are as concerned about the parents or carer as we are about the baby."

The child was wearing a pair of army-style green and khaki camouflage trousers, and a white T-shirt. He had a white sweatshirt with an "88" logo.

A red and blue baby's hat with the word "beep!" on the front was also found in the pushchair.
