Student executed in street

A student was murdered in a chilling execution-style shooting as he walked home from a nightclub.

Galal Hamza, 25, was shot once in the forehead at close range in cold blood when he and a friend were confronted by three men in Kensington. His friend was also shot but managed to run from the scene. The gunman fired at him again as he fled but missed.

The wounded man, who has not been named, is said to be stable and is recovering under armed police guard in hospital.

Police say the attack was apparently motiveless and senior officers in Kensington and Chelsea say the circumstances of the shooting are deeply worrying.

The murder comes as Scotland Yard chief Sir John Stevens has ordered more armed officers onto the streets in an attempt to combat escalating gun crime.
