Stars Wars actor Anthony Daniels: Tube bosses have joined the Dark Side

Star Wars actor Anthony Daniels has accused Transport for London of being on the "Dark Side", as Tube closures threaten to disrupt a concert at The O2 arena based on the sci-fi films.

Star Wars: In Concert takes place on Saturday and Sunday, but engineering works on the Jubilee line mean people will have great difficulty getting there. The Jubilee is closed from Friday to Monday.

Daniels, 64, who played C-3PO in the movies and narrates the show, said: "TfL are coming from the Dark Side — what are they trying to do to the capital? Are weekends not important? Why must they close such major routes and stop everyone having their fun?"

TfL said it shared the frustration of customers and businesses: "The upgrade of the Jubilee line was meant to be completed last year and we are urging Tube Lines and its shareholders to complete the work as soon as possible. The upgrade is now expected to be completed by October."

Replacement bus and boat services will be running.
