Snap that! Crocodile lunges at terrified tourist

This is the moment a crocodile lunges at a terrified tourist as she is poised to take a photograph.

The German woman was enjoying a boat trip in Costa Rica when her tour guide attracted the crocodile by banging a stick in the water. But within seconds it leapt clear, snapping its jaws within inches of her face. The picture was taken by amateur photographer Paul Stodolny, who was on another boat on the Tempiski river in the south American country.

Mr Stodolny, 29, from Toronto, said: "As we were going down the river we saw another boat stopping to take pictures of this crocodile. The tour guide was luring the crocodile closer by tapping a stick in the water. It started to get really close and as the guide pulled the stick out of the water, the crocodile followed it."

Mr Stodolny, who later saw the woman in a restaurant, added: "She said she'd never experienced anything so scary in her life. All she could see was teeth coming at her."
