Sir Paul makes waves at auction for clean surf

A surfboard painted by Sir Paul McCartney is to be sold at auction tomorrow to raise money for the fight against filthy bathing waters. 

The ex-Beatle, 66, has teamed up with some of Britain's leading young artists in support of Surfers Against Sewage, an organisation campaigning for clean, safe recreational waters, free from effluent, toxic chemicals and nuclear waste. His signed, untitled work of red flowers on top of a beach scene is on offer at Bonhams in New Bond Street.

It will be sold alongside 13 other eco-friendly surfboards adorned by leading contemporary artists including Gavin Turk, Tracey Emin, Nick Walker and Kurt Jackson and graffiti-style urban artists Beejoir, Eine, Pure Evil and Mau Mau.
