She's got the world licked

Schoolgirl Annika Irmler has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the proud owner of the world's longest tongue.

It extends seven centimetres - nearly three inches - from her mouth and has the competition licked.

The average human tongue protrudes less than half than length.

"My friends always said I had an incredibly long tongue - I could make lots of money with it one day," said 12-year-old Annika, from Tangstedt, near Hamburg, Germany.

"I'm just proud that now people everywhere can read about me and my tongue," she added.

"On my first day at school I had to stick my tongue out for everyone."
