Seventh man in court over Graff raid

A seventh man suspected of involvement in Britain's biggest jewellery robbery was due in court today to face a charge of attempted murder.

Aman Kassaye, 24, of no fixed abode, is accused of conspiracy to rob Graff jewellers in Mayfair on August 6. He is also charged with unlawful imprisonment and use of a handgun with intent to resist arrest.

Kassaye was appearing before Wimbledon magistrates in south west London.

Another six men have already been charged with conspiracy to commit the £40 million robbery. Two men thought to have been wearing facial disguises stole items worth £40m and fired shots during the robbery.

Six other men have been charged over the raid at Graff Jewellers in New Bond Street.

The six others who have already been charged are due to appear at Kingston Crown Court next month.

Benjamine McFarlane, 21, of Paveley Street, St John's Wood, north-west London; Courtney Lawrence, 30, of Ladbroke Grove, central London; Gregory Jones, 29, of Elgin Avenue, Harrow, north-west London; Jamal Mogg, 42, of Westby Road, Bournemouth; Solomun Beyene, 24, of Lilestone Street, St John's Wood; and Craig Calderwood, 26, of no fixed abode, will appear on October 23.

Beyene and Calderwood also face one firearms charge each.
