Seven Sisters: False alarm over 'man with machete' sparks Tube disruption
Tube services were briefly disrupted during the evening rush hour over a report of someone brandishing a machete, which turned out to be a false alarm.
Panicked travellers started tweeting rumours of the Seven Sisters incident after a Victoria Line driver made an announcement about it on Monday night.
Breiman Muñoz tweeted: "Going home and train driver casually announces that service is suspended as someone in seven sisters station has a knife."
And Charlie Perry wrote: "We aren't moving ladies and gentlemen because there is someone wielding a machete at Seven Sisters".
"This is London."
Another tweeter wrote: "Due to a man wielding a weapon at Seven Sisters this train is delayed."
A spokesman for Transport for London said the incident had been a false alarm.
Services were back up and running shortly afterwards.
A spokesman for British Transport Police confirmed they had been called to the station just after 6.50pm after reports of a man armed with a knife.
However, despite a search, they could find no trace of him. The incident is currently under investigation.
