Saturday will be warmest day yet

The bank holiday weekend could see the warmest day of the year so far, forecasters said yesterday.

On Saturday, temperatures could hit 22°C (71.6°). Sunday and Monday, should be even warmer with the mercury rising to 24°C (75.2°F).

However, the high temperatures could bring thunderstorms.

Michael Dukes, of the Press Association's WeatherCentre, said: 'It is going to be a mixed weekend in many places but quite a bit warmer than recently.

There are likely to be showers with some sunny spells, with the changeable, but warm, weather lasting into Bank Holiday Monday.'
