SAS to train parachutists in America

The SAS is to move its parachute training to America because it no longer believes the RAF has the skills to train its soldiers in Britain. The move to train with US special forces at Fort Bragg came after a row with the RAF over upgrading of the High Altitude Low Opening course.

According to a leaked email the SAS had "had enough of asking for the course to be updated to prepare troops more realistically for the hard business of jumping from 25,000 feet at night, with large operational loads, onto dark and unmarked drop zones".

A new course was devised by the RAF in Brize Norton but it failed to meet requirements.
