Prince Harry was throwing cans of Red Bull at his mates, Hollywood's girl of the moment Scarlett Johansson was a guest and Princess Beatrice was in the arms of a young man.

It was the evening the rich, royal and famous let their hair down after watching the polo at Windsor.

Packed into the China White tent at the Guards Polo Club they danced, screamed and smooched, and not always in that order.

Johansson, star of Lost in Translation and Girl With the Pearl Earring, was kept entertained by Lord Freddie Windsor and his friends, while nearby Prince Harry danced energetically to the Beastie Boys' Fight For Your Right (To Party).

If Johansson was looking to an English aristocrat for guidance on the day's sport she would have been disappointed. "I've never played polo and I'm not sure what the rules are," said Lord Freddie. "This is my first time here."

Fifteen-year-old Princess Beatrice arrived at the Cartier International Polo event arm-in-arm with a mystery date. She was later spotted with the blond young man in the China White tent. The princess was, however, discreet when it came to the identity of her friend. "I'm sorry, I've got to go now," she said, when asked if she was enjoying the evening.

No need to ask Harry, 19, what he thought of the evening. He was reunited with millionaire's daughter Laura Gerard-Leigh with whom he was romantically linked last summer. Partygoers could not help noticing their displays of affection with the prince's arm around her waist. Miss Gerard-Leigh, 19, has just returned from a gap year in Kenya and starts a degree in politics at Bristol in the autumn.

Harry has something of a soft spot for China White. In February he reportedly kissed 20-year-old topless model Lauren Pope at the nightclub's Mayfair venue.

Earlier, Harry had played for his father's Prince of Wales team against the Hurlingham Polo Association, scoring once even though the side lost. Other guests in the China White tent included actress Camilla Rutherford and Jamiroquai singer Jay Kay.
