Rod's sex secrets exposed

The girls who Rod Stewart loved and left behind are about to take revenge.

Seven of them, along with numerous former associates, feature in a TV documentary which claims to reveal the truth behind his romantic notoriety.

Among his secrets is said to be a penchant for wearing women's underwear.

Dee Harrington, Stewart's first serious girlfriend, said that on their first night together he wore her knickers.

'He had a big sexual appetite,' she said. 'He liked me to show my legs and breasts. He would have married me after three months but I did not feel I had to.

'He then started to live the life he was reading about himself in the papers and I did not want to be part of it.'

Another former lover, Marcy Hanson, said: 'He was very, very playful. He put on my underwear and went running up and down the hotel corridors.'

But the 58-year-old singer had a sensitive side too, as Bebe Buell revealed. 'He was extremely caring. I remember once at a hotel I opened the door and the bed was covered in rose petals. There was champagne and a beautiful antique negligee.' One of Stewart'sbest-known girls was Britt Ekland, who moved in with him during the Seventies, but said they were never really 'sexually compatible'.

'I stated quite clearly at the very beginning of the relationship that I would not accept him having any affairs,' Miss Ekland, now 61, told the documentary, Rod's Girls, being made for Channel Five.

She was heartbroken when she discovered he had been having an affair behind her back.

She said: 'I was very much in love with him and when it ended the way it did it was painful. I was anorexic.'

Miss Ekland said she was the original model for Stewart's lifelong obsession with tall leggy blondes.

'I certainly wasn't the clone - if anything I was the one being cloned,' she said

The singer's former publicist Tony Toon said: 'Britt was naive if she thought Rod Stewart was going to be faithful. Rod Stewart is faithful to no one, except his bank manager maybe.'

He revealed how Stewart would pick Page 3 girls from the morning's papers, and often be in bed

with them that night. 'He would point to a Page 3 girl and I would phone and invite her to dinner with Rod Stewart,' he said.

Another ex, Carole Mallory, said she felt sorry for him and delivered some rather crushing amateur psychology. 'He looks for someone to be his mother,' she said. Not all his former loves

agreed to take part in the programme. Alana Hamilton, Kelly Emberg, mother of his daughter Ruby, and Kelly Le Brock refused to be interviewed for the documentary, as did his estranged wife Rachel Hunter. Ironically, the hour-long programme comes after Stewart's current girlfriend Penny Lancaster, 26 years his junior, revealed he had slowed down in old age. 'If the truth be known, I would put a few more demands on him when it comes to that. He's like, "Penny, I've just done a show, please",' she said.

'It's my age, it's the racing hormones. My mum apparently was the same until she was about 50.'
