Robbie becomes a priest

Robbie Williams has been ordained to marry his two best friends. He became a minister over the internet and performed the ceremony at a Los Angeles hotel.

With an ordination certificate from the nondenominational Universal Ministries, he wed Billy Morrison, bassist with British rock band The Cult, to his American girlfriend Jennifer Holliday, according to Hello! magazine. The first clue of Robbie's incarnation came a fortnight ago when he wore a dog collar in the Mercer Hotel in New York. He said then: "I'm training to be a priest."

The wedding ceremony took place on 1 March at the 114-room, £300-a-night Sunset Marquis Hotel and Villas, on Alta Loma Road, West Hollywood. The couple had decided to marry two days earlier and the cake, flowers, wedding gown and groom's suit were all arranged by Robbie's entourage.

Morrison told Hello!: "The fact that my mate Robbie performed the ceremony means everything to me."

Robbie, 26, wrote a sermon and chose a reading. Morrison said: "He managed to make it extremely powerful. My bride walked down the aisle to the tune of Aerosmith's Sweet Emotion. Robbie ended the service with the traditional 'You may now kiss the bride'.

"We just looked at each other and belted out Billy Idol's White Wedding. It was wild."
