Robbed banker's anger at secretary

As detectives renewed their hunt today for £1 million stolen by secretary Joyti De-Laurey, the Goldman Sachs banker she defrauded told today of his feelings of anger and betrayal.

Scott Mead said of his PA: "She hasn't just violated my life once, but twice. Not only did she steal the money but she took away all my privacy."

The hugely wealthy American said: "It was a cynical and calculated theft of everything I cared about. Not the money, but the personal stuff - my family life, my parents and my children."

Since De- Laurey was arrested he has fought to prevent his secretary revealing personal emails, photographs and family health details stolen from a locked drawer in his office.

Yesterday De-Laurey was found guilty of 20 deception charges at Southwark Crown Court and could face up to 10 years in prison when sentenced in June. The £ 4.4million she stole was spent on Cartier jewellery, a string of properties in Britain, a huge villa in Cyprus and gifts showered on friends and family.

Mr Mead said of her: "I still can't understand her greed. She might have got away with it if she hadn't wanted so much. There is still £1 million unaccounted for."
