RAF scrambled jets to guard royals

Two RAF Tornados were scrambled to intercept a light aircraft as it veered towards the Queen's Sandringham estate amid fears of a terrorist attack.

It later emerged the pilot was on a pleasure flight.

RAF Neatishead spokesman Kelvin Hickton said: "Before 11 September we would just have monitored an aircraft like this but now we are more alert."

The incident happened in March but details have only just emerged.
