Posh and Becks gulf continues

They have denied there are any problems in their marriage.

And Victoria Beckham insists she is planning to make her home in Spain - where husband David plays for Real Madrid.

But once again, the couple - who used to be inseparable - were out enjoying themselves nearly 800 miles apart this week.

Accompanied by teammates and pop star Robbie Williams, Beckham went to the Madrid nightclub Calle Serrano on Wednesday night, not leaving until 4.30am.

In London meanwhile, Victoria missed the Pantene Style Awards at the Royal Albert Hall - where her sister and mother had to pick up an award for her - to dine with friends at fashionable Mayfair restaurant Nobu.

The 29-year-old former Posh Spice has spent just three days with her soccer star husband over the last two weeks, even though her record career is on hold because of a legal wrangle.

Two of those days were taken up filming an advert for a Japanese cosmetics company, while on the third she had a meeting with 28-year-old Beck-ham's estranged management company SFX.

The Daily Mail first suggested there were problems in the marriage a month ago, over Victoria's refusal to settle in Madrid.

Although publicly the singer has claimed she is happy to move to Spain, and intends to send their two children to school there, the picture is not quite so clear.

In the three months Beckham has been in Madrid, she has been there for barely a third of the time. Meanwhile, the clean-living England captain-who was once never out of his wife's shadow, has been pictured coming out of a number of Madrid nightclubs in the early hours.

'You hardly ever see Posh and David out together,' said a source in Spain. 'He is normally out with his teammates, while the only time she seems to be here is when she is working.'

Yesterday, Victoria's spokesman said she was in London for 'meetings' and is planning to fly back to Madrid at the weekend.

However, sources at her record label Telstar claim that although they are desperate meet her, their phone calls are not returned. The firm is stalling on releasing her new album because of rows over her new mentor, rap producer Damon Dash.

Telstar refuses to pay Dash for the work he has done with Victoria, believing the album will be a flop. It is trying to reach agreement for her to release a pop album she recorded before meeting Dash, but she is refusing.

'Nothing is happening with the album at the moment because we can't come to an agreement,' said a Telstar insider. 'We are in the middle of a legal wrangle with Dash over money and we have tried to get Victoria to join in the meetings so we can sort it out, but she won't come.'

Even if Victoria is dropped from the label - something the music industry is expecting - friends say she is still not planning to spend any more time in Madrid.

'She says if the record doesn't work out, she wants to become an actress,' said a friend yesterday.

'Damon has convinced her that she can get a part in an "edgy" American movie.'
