Police to put electric motorbikes on trial

Police in London will be the first to use electric motorcycles as part of a drive to reduce their carbon footprint.

The Motorcycle Tasking team will test the Zero DS (Dual Sport) in everyday policing situations and they will also be part of the police's BikeSafe-London and ScooterSafe projects.

Mick Cheeseman, a sergeant with the team, said: "It is a technologically advanced machine and we look forward to trialling it to see how it can be used as a daily part of our policing."

The machines won the European e-bike of the year.
