Police sorry for knife search at funeral

Police and council officials have apologised after a marquee in a Hackney churchyard was used to search 83 people while a funeral took place nearby.

The searches at St John's churchyard targeted youth knife. Arrests were made for possession of weapons and GBH, and heroin was seized.

A Met spokesman said the location had been agreed some time before. A council spokesman said: "We will ensure this does not happen again."
