Police seize £1.5m drug haul in flat swoop

Detectives seized drugs with an estimated street value of more than £1.5million after a raid on the flat of a suspected dealer.

Police arrested a 62-year-old man on suspicion of intent to supply class A and class B drugs after the swoop on the property in Commercial Road, Whitechapel.

Tower Hamlets police seized what is believed to be three to five kilograms of methamphetamine.

The haul also included half a kilogram of cocaine, worth about £40,000, and cannabis with a street value of up to £14,000.

Between £10,000 and £50,000 in cash was also recovered, police said. The suspect is in custody.
