Police probe Victoria firearms incident

A man was rushed to hospital after police were called to what is thought to be an armed robbery at a pub in Victoria.

A large area around the bus station and Buckingham Palace Road has been cordoned off as police investigate the incident at the Shakespeare Tavern.

Police said a male member of staff at the pub has been injured and taken to hospital but would not say whether any shots had been fired.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 6.30 to an armed incident at the Shakespeare Tavern in Victoria.

"One male member of staff was injured and has been taken to hospital. This was not a hostage situation and one line of inquiry at the moment is that this was a possible robbery.

"A large area outside Victoria station remains cordoned off as we investigate the incident and there will be some disruption to traffic."
