Perfect diving conditions as monsoon hits London

Monsoon weather brought rush-hour chaos to the roads and trains as a month's rain fell in just a few hours.

The Met Office issued a severe weather warning as a band of donwpours tipped more than two inches of rain on some areas.

Flooding also closed Mansion House and Regent's Park Tube stations, while the railway between Teddington and Shepperton closed all evening.

Traffic problems were reported on the A4, M4, A40, the North Circular and the Great North Way. The Met Office said 29mm of rain fell at the London Weather Centre in about six hours.
