Pay figures show gender gap closing

The gender gap is closing fast as women's pay catches up with that of their male counterparts.

Figures today show that annual salaries are up by a higher amount for women than men for the eighth year in a row. The Chartered Management Institute adds that at department manager level the gap no longer exists, with females earning more than men for the first time ever.

But there are still vast regional differences. The average female management salary in inner London is ?44,981 against ?31,067 in East Anglia.
