Parking fine for mother in asthma scare

A woman was given a parking ticket after she stopped to tend to her son when he had an asthma attack, it emerged today.

Sue Butcher, 32, parked on zigzag lines outside a school so she could help four-year-old Matthew Hunt with his inhaler.

But a parking warden gave her a ticket, refusing to withdraw it even when she explained the situation. Ms Butcher, from Hackbridge, delivered a four-page letter to Sutton council, and although it initially refused to cancel the ?40 fine, it has now backed down.
