Official: Beckham's First Rate

Following a week where jamiroquai singer Jay Kay was named most stylish man at the GQ Awards, we asked you to vote for This is London's 'First Rate Fella'. More than 1,000 of you voted to choose the winner of this most prestigious title.

In a hard-fought contest, David Beckham and Johnny Vegas battled it out for pole position while Justin Timberlake and Chris Martin had a scrap near the bottom. The strangest bedfellows though were Simon Cowell and Tony Blair - who ended up in a gentlemanly draw.

There'll be no prizes for guessing who won. Yes, David Beckham, hero, sex god and second in command to Christ the Lord, won the inaugural First Rate Fella award with 20% of the votes. Another award for the 28-year-old's already creaking trophy cabinet.

What is more surprising is the order of the runners-up. Johnny Vegas, comedian, actor and potter came in a close second with 18% of the votes. The Lancashire lad is currently starring in Mel Smith's comedy Blackball - just one of four films he has in the pipeline.

Third place was taken by the BBC's Ragi Omar with 12% of the votes. Mooted as the new Kate Adie, Ragi brought us live reports from Iraq amid bombing and shootings.

This is London users obviously aren't adverse to a bit of royalty. They voted Prince Harry into joint fourth place with actor Colin Farrell, with 9% of the votes.

Sadly, and despite their media-friendly status, Justin Timberlake, Simon Cowell, Chris Martin, Tim Henman and Tony Blair failed to inspire our voters. In fact, Tim Henman only scraped a measly 4% of the votes. He obviously needs to work on his popularity as well as his game.
