Observatory stays open in £15m refit

Royal Observatory chiefs have said they will remain open for business during a lavish £15 million refurbishment.

The Greenwich landmark is to undergo an ambitious three-year programme of works to expand its current gallery space.

Its planetarium shows, however, will transfer to a temporary site at the National Maritime Museum before reopening with new state-of-the-art facilities in 2007.
