Nurses tell Abi to get out

IT'S unlikely Abi Titmuss will ever have to concern herself with changing dressings and checking pulses again.

She has left nursing behind to sign a series of lucrative media contracts, including a £ 150,000 deal to be the face of the pornographic Channel X.

But her change of career hasn't stopped Miss Titmuss continuing to live in subsidised nursing accommodation - much to the disgust of her former colleagues.

John Leslie's former girlfriend, who has just finished some promotional work in Barbados, left her post as a locum nurse in January.

However, she has managed to hang on to her £ 360- a- month flat in Bloomsbury provided by University College London Hospitals NHS Trust.

Nurses there, who start on a salary of £17,060, made it clear that she was no longer welcome. Emma Stagg, 26, a staff nurse at the Middlesex Hospital, which is part of the trust, said: 'The accommodation is designed to help people working for the trust to be able to afford to live near the hospital.

'This is appalling and the trust should have looked into it deeper.'

Glenn Brannagan, 32, a healthcare assistant nurse, said: 'I think it is outrageous.

'A lot of my friends worked with her and said she used to be a really good nurse. I think she has completely wasted her talent.'

Nursing consultant Ray Rowden said: 'The Government has put a lot of money into subsidised accommodation for key workers. I don't think they meant it for wellpaid porn presenters.'

Miss Titmuss, 27, moved into the flat five years ago when she joined the trust. The accommodation is managed by Sutherland Housing Association.

A spokesman for the association said: 'Abi still has a valid tenancy agreement which means she is legally within her rights to stay there.'

Miss Titmuss's publicist said: 'Abi's moving in a couple of weeks. It takes time to find property and that's why she has stayed on.'
