Now Blaine's girl hurls eggs

David Blaine's girlfriend today took revenge on one of her boyfriend's tormentors by hurling an egg in his face as security guards held him down.

Minders grabbed the man, who had hurled an egg at the magician's glass cage at 1.30am, and dragged him to a nearby car park.

Blaine's girlfriend, Manon von Gerkan, then asked for him to be held still so she could take aim with one of his eggs.

She told the Standard: "It was the most physical thing I have ever done. I just planted one right smack in the middle of him. It's been so frustrating seeing David have all these things thrown at him over the last few days, it was a great moment to finally fire one back in the other direction.

"The guy I threw the egg at saw the funny side and was encouraging me to throw it. He kept saying: 'Go on then, I deserve it. I chucked one at him so you can chuck one at me'."

The attacker, in his thirties, was released by the guards and police were not called.

Several other people targeted Blaine, 30, who aims to spend 44 days without food in the cage hanging near Tower Bridge.

However, a security source said: "Last night was relatively quiet and we just had the odd person try and throw eggs. It's funny because the people that do this aren't yobbos from the local estate.

"They all tend to be City boys with public school educations and plummy accents. This guy was smartly dressed."

Model Manon, 30, has been cleaning the outside of David's cage every day.

Asked if she minded doing so, she said: "When you see someone suffering, you can't help it, the maternal instinct just comes out in you. Sometimes I get mad with David and I wonder why I bother, but then I see him sitting up there and I have to do something."
