More than 15,000 species ranging from the mighty shark to the humble frog now face extinction, wildlife experts warned today. Of the total of 15,589 species under threat, one in three amphibians and almost half of all freshwater turtles are at risk. One in eight birds and one in four mammals are also known to be in jeopardy.
