More than six in 10 Londoners admit to arguing in the car - especially on holiday outings.

One in three drivers become so angry they forget to concentrate on the road, with the most likely causes being noisy children, driving too fast and faulty map reading. Bank Holiday weekend driving is notoriously stressful, research from Saga Motor Insurance shows, and events inside the car are as likely to raise the blood pressure as the traffic.

One-third of the 974 drivers questioned, who admitted to rowing in the car, said they had an accident or near miss as a result.

Of those who rowed, half said they argued with their partner and a third quarrelled with their children.

Saga boss Andrew Goodsell said of the survey: "We appear to be adding to our own stress by arguing among ourselves."
